Terror and Infection update: France is a mess. The infected are overloading the nations health system, though there have been no deaths. The UK sees no sign of infections, though there are a number of requests from the mainland for refugee boats to land.
Recent European stability and French panic cancel each other out, terror remains at 3.
Funding update: 5 left in the bank (23 used, income of 27)
Agent Update: Agent unused
Military Update: The blockade between France and England holds, though boats are getting bolder in trying to break through, Orders? New frigates are being produced.
Diplomacy Update: Ireland not only accepts alliance, but offers to rejoin the Union. These are dark times and they do not wish to face them alone. Switzerland is firmly neutral, they do not expect to sign any alliance with any foreign power. Ever.

Hey, uh, before the lockout for Day 4 science arrives, we should probably pick a region to scan if we haven't done so already.

America is getting really ticked at China, and wants to have either us or Germany send our agent to find out why they're doing what they're doing.
Also might be good to get some of our men some of that anti-viral Egypt discovered and get in on this expedition. Build some good will.

Also I REALLY think we're letting South America get away too light with the whole bailout theft. We need to remind people about that.
Gumpy - do we know enough about disease transmission and symptoms to reliably screen refugees?

Yeah, we do.
If there's a segment on Greece in the next update (which their might be, given the information we got last time), that'll make it easier to push for a joint investigate.
Theft is one thing. Theft with consequences that basically neutralize the efforts of the countries that voted for the resolution is another.

Especially with how high and mighty their alliance is getting. SADPACT was pretty much founded off that theft.

As for China, I'm not really interested on getting involved in the pissing contest the U.S. seems to have with them without some evidence that China's up to something dangerous.
Right now it just looks like world powers trying to decide who has the highest moral ground.
I do agree with joining the Egypt expedition, though.

Lemme know who to scan.
As for research, I'm thinking maybe Lightweight Gear and Gov't TV?

Yeah, both of those sound like good research ideas.
As for scanning, I'd suggest either the Netherlands or Switzerland.
Both are adjacent to France, and both Germany and us would probably appreciate an early warning on whether the virus is spreading even closer to the major European countries.

Gumpy - do we know enough about disease transmission and symptoms to reliably screen refugees? You are using all tech you've worked out towards it on the borders fortified by your military (Aka: The entire UK) Note: Ireland is now one, which counts as a second unfortified border

Hmm...on a scale of 1 to 10, how in favor are we of sapping the Chunnel, to be rebuilt later?

Government TV Your studies in cheap energy technologies have allowed you great control over further electronic expansion. Specifically you have almost complete control of the media in your country. You may broadcast whatever you want, whenever you want. This is an excellent tool for managing Terror in your country. You may pay $3 to buy complete control of the media. Enough to last the current turn. This cost increases by $1 each time you use it, as your citizens slowly grow skeptical. As long as you are broadcasting, Terror will not increase in your country. If your broadcasts stop, the citizens will suddenly become aware of things you were trying to keep quiet. All the Terror you suppressed with your broadcasts will be added at once.
Lightweight Gear
You have made great strides in providing your troops with gear that is much faster to transport. Unfortunately, the gear is slightly less resilient to damage than normal, but the speed at which your troops can move may outweigh that.
You may equip any current unit with this lightweight gear. Any unit with lightweight gear is less defensible (takes one damage), but may move two times per turn instead of once. In the future, make this choice when you start manufacturing a new unit. IF YOU CHANGE A UNIT TO BE LIGHTWEIGHT, MAKE SURE TO TELL GUMPY.

As you become aware of these monsters, your scientists note that new technologies will shortly become accessible. The entire first Tech Tree is now visible here: drive.google.com/file/d/0B_Pwy5np7dT9dHZCWkN4WDBVRTg/view?usp=sharingTechs with an orange/yellow tint will lead to further technologies on the second Tree. Second Tree techs will be more expensive.
