I'm gonna send out feelers to Brazil and Egypt. They've been particularly vocal about their displeasure with Russia, so sharing information about how that situation is going down would be beneficial, I think.

Or that.
Speed Racer seems to be just as ticked off about Russia as we are. I'd try talking to him, Stilts.

Egypt is making a daring proposal.
I'm inclined to support it.

So I just got this little missive from Russia:
"Russia would be willing to Join the EU and NATO, if the STEAM accords are upheld.
1) We make Alliances with the nations I listed
2) Russia join the EU (to be named the Eurasian Union)and NATO, bringing in our allies in Europe as well. 300 million people added to the EU markets.
3) Poland, and the missile shield shall not be touched
4) Russia will not interfere with Europe via force again as long as the Accords are up held.
Is this fair?
Ah, it got the name cause Bunny and I hammered it out on Steam."
How convenient that the suddenly want to play nice. Also very convenient that they're the ones who profit most from this proposal.

This, however, is a much bigger deal:
"My new colleague in the United Kingdom,
I come to you today to propose a solution to Las Malvinas that we hope will be mutually satisfactory. We propose to simply buy back of Las Malvinas. We are open for negotiations on the price, but we will believe it will be mutually beneficial.
For one, it will free up your fleet currently sitting around Las Malvinas to concentrate on the Russian matters. Second, it will put in end to the rancor between our two countries. Las Malvinas houses nearly three thousand souls. We would welcome them as loyal citizens into our country, but are willing to help relocate them if they choose to leave.
I would note that I hope not to use the United Nations to enforce this buy back, however, I assure you we have enough votes right now to pass this resolution.
Yours truly, Assuran Ambassador, La República Argentina"
Like, there's no way we can actually agree to that.
The trouble comes in formulating a response that comes off as totally reasonable.

Something about how they intend to buy people, and that the rancor was entirely generated from their end.
If you're feeling really cheeky, you can say that the price is finding the Greek bailout and returning it.

Argentina's general just came up to all military leaders, stating that Russia is a problem, and trying to figure out how Argentina can help in containing Russia. He says he has a "specific and strong mandate" from his president to put Argentina in a way to cope with Russian aggression, and asked for intelligence that would assist operations. He also said that they have material in the SE Pacific.
I'm going to tell him to buzz off until he comes up with the bailout funds.

Before I respond, can I get some context on what's even going on with Las Malvinas?
I tried to read as much as I could of the backlog, but I'm not sure if I missed anything. Specifically in regards to the "rancor" that's being referenced.

Also, we should probably start attempting to get some allies before Russia tries to blitz them.
My first choice is Scandinavia, given their proximity to both Russia and us. Does that sound reasonable, or does anyone have a better suggestion?

Since Gumpy said GO, Argentina has been going all Che Guevara about how the Falklands belong to them, and that we are imperialistic by keeping them under our sovereignty. Disc was in the motions of putting up a deal where the people of the Falklands could vote and decide which country, if any, they would be sovereign to. That wasn't good enough for them. They want nothing less than the island under their control, which we can't have.

I'm ok with a Scandinavian ally.

Not that I think they'll listen, but we should remind the US that as a NATO member, keeping us from dealings with Russia is a direct violation of protocol.
Would threatening to kick them out of NATO be effective in any way? Could we even do that?

I wouldn't want to give the U.S. any more of a reason to be on Russia's side of things, and kicking them out of NATO, even if we could, could make them awfully amenable to Russia's side of thinking. Just bring up that this is a direct violation of protocol, and ask them what they intend to do about it.

As for the Falkland Islands, both the UK and Argentina claim them. A poll in 2013 showed 99.8 percent of Falkland Islanders support British rule Argentina's claim is based on their belief that England kicked out Argentinian settlers unfairly in the 1800s.
The rancor being referenced is real-world historical hostilities between the UK and Argentina-the matter has been fairly cool in our game so far.
For my scientific efforts, I can claim Germany as a sure ally. the US worked with us before, but their involvement in the Russia matter means they can no longer be trusted. Brazil has other scientific allies, but their opposition to Russia makes them seem trustworthy, though I'm sure Argentina won't want them to work with us.
I'm going to continue to work on assembling my scientific alliances, while leaving the US out of it.
